Considered being the “Alps of Romania”, the Fagaras Mountains impress with their beauty in a pure state. Situated in the Southern Carpathians, having a length of 70km and a width of 40km, they stretch on a surface of 2000 square kilometers, and so they represent the biggest alpine massive in Romania. Here you will find the largest population of black goats in the whole country, and also here you will fint peaks that are well over 2500m, such as the highest peak in Romania, Moldoveanu Peak (2545m), Negoiu Peak (2535m), Vistea Mare (2527m), Lespezi Peak (2522m), or Buteanu’s Hunt (2507m). Numerous hiking trails are making way through the magnificent peaks of the Fagaras Mountains, and once you are there, you will fill your soul with joy, admiring the sensational view towards Transylvania, as well as towards Transfagarasan, Vidraru Lake and numerous glacial lakes.
