Considered one of the most beautiful mountain areas in the country, Balea Lake resort comes to put the crown on the head of the amaging Transfagarasan Road, at the highest altitude – 2034m. Balea Lake is a glacial lake situated at 85 kilometers from Curtea de Arges. Once you arrive here, the mountain view conquers the soul of every tourist passionate about hiking and extreme sports. During winter, the scenery is simply breathtaking, because of the snow covered mountain peaks which surround the resort. Since 2006, durin January-March, they build the famous ice hotel, in the shape of an igloo, which has the accomodation capacity of 16 rooms, waiting for the new guests that are willing to check in.
