The Valley and the Gorges of Valsan represent a protected area of national interest in the southern part of Fagaras Mountains, in the hidrographic basin of Valsan River, at only 33km of Curtea de Arges. It is an unique zone, not only because of the biodiversity and the views, but especially because of the presence of an ancient species of fish, unique in the world – Asprete (Romanichtys valsanicola). From the findings of scientists, they estimate that the fish has been around for 65 000 years. It represents a mounment of nature, and a species of high importance, being so rare, its value as a scientific and museological objectiv is way past its value as food. Right now, the asprete lives only on a portion of 1km in the Valsan River, beyond Bradetu resort. Specialists in this domain confirm that right now, there are less than 100 individuals worldwide. This splendid scenery of the Valsan Gorges invites you on a wonderful journey, where you will descover another place worth telling a story about – Clearings of Valsan
